Job Description and Duties

This position is located at the DMV Headquarters in Sacramento. 

Under the direction of the Project Management Group, Information Technology (IT) Manager I, the IT Specialist I (ITS I) serves as a Project Manager within the Project Management Unit. The ITS I is responsible for managing medium to large-sized infrastructure IT projects that cover the project management knowledge areas and all phases of Agile software development. The incumbent leads multi-disciplined staff consisting of State and contractor personnel at various levels and removes barriers to project activities in partnership with DMV business and technical leaders to build shared IT solutions that align with DMV's mission, vision, and strategic goals and objectives. The ITS I provides IT consultation to the business community to support business programs; coordinates and consults with users, administrators, and engineers to identify business and technical requirements to proposed system modifications or technology enhancements; leads and/or participates in discovery sessions to define the scope, goals, and feasibility of a solution or project; and provides recommendations to management.

The ITS I supports the State's Project Management practices by ensuring the enterprise infrastructure projects assigned are monitored, tracked, and include appropriate metrics; performs complex analytical studies in support of enterprise-wide IT projects and portfolio reporting; and contributes to the development and maintenance of the DMV's Project and Portfolio Management Methodology.
