Job Description and Duties

Under direction of the Office of Enterprise Architecture (OEA) Information Technology Manager II (IT Mgr II), the Information Technology Specialist I (IT Spec I) provides independent level analysis and recommendation to Information Technology (IT) management on architectural design and deliverables to solve business and IT problems.  The IT Spec I supports the business needs and IT approach of architectural services and design by striving to unite the California Department of Technology (CDT) offerings with customer needs and the California Enterprise Architecture Framework.  This position works in union with the IT Architect team, business representatives, specialists and subject matter experts. Services include assisting by way of business and IT strategy, concept and business case development, portfolio rationalization, blueprint/roadmap planning, project prioritization, standards establishment and governance, as well as design guidance and oversight.

The IT Spec I will conduct independent review of design ideas, planned CDT service design, as well as proposed and approved integration of systems across the technical infrastructure. The IT Spec I will review both hard to define and detail technical systems and application design documents. The IT Spec I will also analyze and document results to offer recommendations related to CDT services, platforms, software and connectivity.  Recommendations may be made both orally and in writing. The IT Spec I assists in the creation, maintenance and management of IT Architecture documentation, architectural models, implementation patterns, service design artifacts, policies, procedures and guidelines. The IT Spec I is also expected to interpret, use and apply information contained within the IT Architecture program to inform a range of business improvement activities, particularly those in volved in the design, development, enhancement, operation and maintenance of IT systems.

Telework This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule within California based on departmental policy and operational needs. The telework policy is subject to change depending on business needs, and/or reporting to the work site may be required with minimal notification given .
