Department : National Investigative Services Division (NISD) / Elite Special Unit (ESU).
Reports To: Director of National Investigative Services Division (NISD).
Supervises: Private Detectives, Security Guards, Trainers, and Administrative Staff.
Salary : $80,000 - 90,000 annually.

Job Summary:
The Manager of the Elite Special Unit (ESU) Department is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, personnel management, and performance of the department. This role includes direct supervision of a team of private detectives and security guards, as well as the coordination of activities involving trainers and administrative personnel. The ESU Manager ensures that all private detective and security operations are carried out efficiently, safely, and in compliance with legal and organizational standards.

Key Responsibilities:
Departmental Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead and manage a high-volume team of private detectives and security guards across various shifts, sites, and assignments.
  • Oversee and support the work of trainers and administrative staff to maintain cohesive departmental functions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all field operations and personnel matters within the department.
  • Conduct routine staff meetings, briefings, and performance reviews.


Field Operations & Case Oversight:

  • Assign and monitor private detective cases and security deployments, ensuring coverage, timeliness, and effectiveness.
  • Review reports submitted by field staff for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Lead response efforts during incidents, emergencies, or high-risk assignments.
  • Ensure adequate deployment of resources based on client or operational needs.


Security Management:

  • Implement and enforce security protocols and procedures in collaboration with field supervisors and security guards.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of site coverage.
  • Respond to security incidents, breaches, and emergencies in a timely and effective manner.
  • Ensure proper training and certification of security personnel in line with state requirements and company policies.
  • Coordinate with clients and stakeholders regarding staff, incident handling, and safety concerns.


Training, Development & Compliance:

  • Work closely with trainers to deliver onboarding, skills development, ongoing certifications, and refresher courses.
  • Identify performance and compliance gaps and develop corrective action or training plans.
  • Monitor staff licensing and certification renewals for legal compliance.
  • Ensure department policies align with local, state, and federal regulations regarding investigations and security operations.


Administrative & Scheduling Oversight:

  • Manage department schedules, rotations, time-off requests, and overtime approvals to ensure full coverage.
  • Coordinate with admin staff for proper documentation, payroll, and case file organization.
  • Maintain and update department logs, shift reports, incident summaries, and case tracking systems.


Reporting & Communication:

  • Prepare detailed reports for the NISD Director on staffing, case resolution, incidents, training status, and general ESU department performance.
  • Communicate operational changes, new procedures, and departmental goals to field personnel and support staff.
  • Facilitate coordination between security officers and private detective teams for blended assignments or multi-faceted operations.


Strategic Development:

  • Assist the NISD Director in planning departmental expansion, onboarding new contracts, and scaling staff accordingly.
  • Contribute to policy development and department performance improvement initiatives.
  • Engage in vendor and client communications when necessary to ensure high service satisfaction.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in private investigations, security services, or law enforcement, including 2+ years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Valid private investigator license and security guard certification (state-specific requirements).
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing large multidisciplinary teams and shift-based operations.
  • Strong knowledge of procedures, security protocols, and compliance regulations.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Proficient in security management systems, case reporting software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage high-pressure situations and make sound decisions quickly.
  • Flexible schedule with availability for on-call or after-hours operations as needed.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing both armed and unarmed security personnel.
  • Familiarity with executive protection, event security, or high-profile investigative assignments.
  • Experience scaling departments, hiring in bulk, or working in contract-based environments.
  • Prior collaboration with law enforcement, legal teams, or corporate security departments.
