What To Expect
Tesla's in-house Lithium Refinery located near Corpus Christi, Texas is critical to our mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy and represents our efforts to aggressively increase the supply of battery-grade lithium hydroxide available in North America. We are seeking a Process Controls and Automation Technician to help further our mission. In this role, you will be a crucial member of the team responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of process control and automation systems. Your responsibilities will include supporting the design, implementation, and maintenance of control systems to optimize plant processes and maintain operational efficiency. Additionally, you will play a key role in supporting the commissioning and startup of the refinery.
What You'll Do Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of process control and automation systems to ensure performance standards and safety regulations are met Maintain detailed records of system configurations, maintenance activities, and equipment performance to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements Investigate and resolve all issues related to control systems, and automation systems Assist in upgrading and optimizing existing control systems to improve operations efficiency, safety, reliabilityPlay an integral role in supporting the commissioning and startup of the refinery Work closely with the project and engineering teams to support the installation and commissioning of control systems for new projects and ensure the successful transition to operational status
What You'll Bring 2+ years of experience in refinery/chemical processing, 1+ year in board operations Preferred experience in Emerson DeltaV DCS and SIS or Safety Manager Controls Systems. Proficiency in troubleshooting control system issues and identifying solutionsKnowledge of safety regulations and the ability to ensure compliance in control systems and automation equipment Capacity to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced industrial environment Effective communication skills to report issues, provide updates, and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, operators, and maintenance personnel Dedication to ensuring the highest standards of quality and reliability in control systems, automation, and documentationMust have command of the English language, both written and verbal

Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a dayAbility to stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day, including over varied and uneven terrainFrequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 pounds, including the ability to carry 20 pounds up and down stairs Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours a day Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, or hearingWearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: PAPR, safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
