This position provides administrative and professional support to research programs and projects at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Responsible for equipment, materials, and support of laboratory operations. Provides routine support of protocols/plans, documentation, observation, sample and data collection. Records, processes, interprets and presents data. Work includes receiving and archiving biological specimens in -80 freezer, nucleic acid extractions, electrophoresis, sequencing library preparations,PCR , quantitativePCR , quality control using TapeStation, fluorimeters, and spectrophotometers, as well as other genomics lab tasks. Mine electronic medical records and link metadata with corresponding biospecimens. Work is performed under general guidance and is checked for compliance with protocols/plans; the incumbent is expected to make some independent judgments and decisions. Minimum Qualifications **Minimum Qualifications** **Level I** : + Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Animal Sciences, or other related discipline. **Level II** : + Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Animal Sciences, or other related discipline. + 2 years of experience in research practices and protocols. Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications **Minimum Skills and Abilities** + Possesses general knowledge in the field of research, and has working knowledge of equipment, materials and processes related to lab/facility operations, including procedures for observation, documentation and data collection. + Regularly involves lifting, bending or other physical exertion. Often exposed to one or more elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, etc., with one often to the point of being objectionable.
