Job Description
Clearway School (a small, private special education school for learning-disabled, middle and high school students) has an opening for a substitute school social worker. The position will begin in late September 2025 and continue to c. March 2026 with the possibility for longer based on the needs of our current social worker. The responsibilities include planning, organizing and instructing psycho-educational groups for students with learning disabilities and social/emotional challenges. Other responsibilities include implementing social skills curriculum, developing and implementing IEP goals, communicating with outside therapists, supporting students/families in need, and collaborating with staff. Knowledge of Collaborative Problem-Solving, Restorative Justice, CBT, mindfulness and/or DBT skills is beneficial. There should be an opportunity to overlap with our current social worker to ease adjustment. Please send cover letter and resume to Peter Rosen at prosen@clearwayschool.org. Full responsibilities includes:
-Plan, organize and instruct psycho-educational groups for middle school and high school age students with an array of learning disabilities and social/emotional challenges and which addresses students' IEP goals and meets the individual needs of students.
-Develop appropriate IEP goals that reflect an understanding of the student's current performance and needs in social/emotional and behavioral areas.
-Meet with students 1:1 as needed to address school functioning and when students are experiencing a crisis with the goal of supporting them in returning to their regularly scheduled day, implementing strategies they have learned from outside clinicians, and connecting them with the therapeutic resources they need outside of school.
-Document student progress on a daily, quarterly and yearly basis, including keeping clinician notes to document 1:1 student meetings as well as collateral contacts. Complete any additional forms required by the program.
-Consult with case managers and other staff to ensure that social-emotional IEP goals are addressed and determine appropriate and strategies to be employed with students.
-Support staff in implementing Collaborative Problem Solving and actively engage in Collaborative Problem Solving meetings with students.
-Establish contact and build relationships with families and network with community providers to support efforts in working with students with disabilities.
-Participate fully in weekly staff meetings, supervision meetings, case consultations and scheduled trainings. Attend IEP meetings, family meetings or case conferences as needed.
