Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Technical Sales Engineer . A key aspect of this role is the ability to bridge the gap between our clients' technical software teams and our internal IT engineers, product management, and sales teams from a technical standpoint.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Sales & Business Development Teams:
    • Apply technical and sales knowledge and company policies/procedures in direct support to customers.
    • Maintain an in-depth understanding of fleet needs, industry trends, competitive products, and current technology.
    • Communicate and collaborate effectively with both internal and external sales channels to increase market share for fleet programs.
    • Develop and implement new and expanded sales and marketing strategies to grow the business.
    • Develop strong relationships, identify revenue opportunities, and craft winning strategies for obtaining high-margin, profitable contracts with key organizations.
  • Technical Liaison & Communication:
    • Speak to clients' IT-Technical Software Teams, understanding their needs and requirements, and translating that information back to our team of IT engineers, Product, and Sales.
    • Spearhead and act as the gatekeeper for updates, changes, and communication between internal and external technical teams.
    • Maintain an in-depth understanding of our products and applications.
    • Demonstrate and present diagnostic products to public forums and technical audiences.
    • Obtain understanding of product cost, long lead time parts, production schedules, and the impact of forecasts, as well as the product development process and the role of product management and the Regional Sales Manager.
  • Account & Contract Management:
    • Drive home closing client/customer contracts and close deals through contract negotiations.
    • Work with various company managers/departments in determining client cost of services.
    • Work with client and company legal teams to create and solidify contracts with existing and new clients.
    • Ensure timely submission of proposals and proactively address issues that may negatively impact corporate sales and strategic efforts.
    • Provide insights into account activity, personnel involved, and evaluate strategic effectiveness.
    • Develop comprehensive account plans, report activities, solicit assistance, report needs, recommend new procedures and/or policies or changes, and obtain appropriate approvals.
    • Maintain corporate branding and the company's reputation for high-quality products.
    • Assist in the development of product and company collateral with support from the Marketing department's graphics and media specialists.
    • Report on activities and engage in dialogue with other sales personnel regarding effective tactics and strategies.
    • Share customer and market data that may impact other corporate sales and strategic efforts and planning.
  • Customer Experience:
    • Ability to fulfill above average customer expectations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Development, or a relevant technical field; or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in Application Development (Software Engineer) is highly desired, with a strong desire to transition into a Presales/Sales Engineer
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to teach and explain complex technical ideas and concepts to customers with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Must have superlative presentation, account management, customer relations, communications, and organizational skills, including planning, coordinating, and setting priorities.
  • Background in Software Development, Presales, and/or Product/Program Management is a plus.
  • Highest degree of character, honesty, personal responsibility, and accountability.
  • Computer literate in a wide range of information systems and business software, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and possibly Visio.
  • Familiarity with computer interfaces, platforms, and software techniques.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
